AWANA at Covenant includes three clubs: Cubbies, Sparks and T&T (Truth & Training). We meet each Wednesday night at 6:00 during the school year.
Why: Because kids matter to God.
John 1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. (NIV)
Where & When: 6-7:45 p.m. Wednesdays at Covenant Baptist Church
What: AWANA is based on 2 Timothy 2:15, but more than that it’s a ministry where children memorize God’s holy Word, interact with loving adults who invest in their lives and have fun!
2 Timothy 2:15: Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (NIV)
Who: We have AWANA for all children who have turned three on or before Aug. 31 through fifth graders.
Parents: The cost for each child to participate is $30, which goes toward the uniform, books and awards. The rest of the cost is absorbed through CBC’s AWANA budget. If you are unable to pay the full amount, please see Regina Hodges. We have partial-pay and scholarships available. NO child will be turned away from AWANA because of cost.
Matthew 19:14: But Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children." (NLT)
Cubbies
Age: one and two years before Kindergarten
Sparks
Age: Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade
T&T
Age: 3rd, 4th and 5th grade
A typical night at AWANA includes the opening, where clubbers pledge to the American Flag, Christian Flag and the Bible, and sing songs. Each opening recognizes all clubbers who have earned awards by completing sections in their book. Each club also has large group time, where they learn together as a club. In addition, and most importantly, each clubber works through their book, learning and memorizing scripture as they go. And, there is also time for games and a snack on club night.
